The sweetest kitten ever

I don't know if it is his breed, his personality or his lack of hearing (which makes him much more tolerant than Snowy!), but Whiskers is the sweetest kitten I have ever met.  He doesn't bite or claw (Snowy, on the other hand, owwww).  He likes to be close most of the time but in his own, quiet way.  I often will be sitting on the couch and turn around and realize Whiskers is sleeping on the back.  He is so quiet I don't hear him get up there!  Or if I am in the kitchen, he sits on the corner of the rug by the sink, just staying near.  He hangs out in his spot on the rug even if there are 12 people milling around the kitchen.  Doesn't phase him a bit.  (Snowy, on the other hand, heads for the high country when I have more than a couple extra friends over.)  Whiskers isn't an in your face cat (unless you are trying to eat dairy products!), he is just a by your side cat.  Here he is right now, as I am typing.

One of his finest qualities is how tolerant he is of everyone.  Everyone!!  He lets kids haul him around and stuff him in the little house on his cat tree.  He lets adults pick him up and snuggle him.  He sticks around no matter how many people might be in the room.  The only time he cries is if he finds himself alone.  Then, oh my, sadness!  Jason says he sounds like a fire alarm, that is how loud he howls.  Then you rush downstairs (or in the next room, or wherever) and pick him up and he purrs like you've rescued him from certain death.  For a little cat, he has a huge motor. :)  Here is a very small sampling of him being loved on by multiple people.

Bryce often brings the kittens to bed in the morning.  Whiskers is the snugglier of the two, by far.

Hayden loves to carry Whiskers like this!

But he isn't just sweet--he is funny!  Hilarious!!  Case in point, have you seen the post about him and the Roomba?  For a while, he was turning it on and riding around every day!  I joked I needed to start charging admission. ;)  Whiskers loves boxes and can turn just about anything into a toy.  Even more than that, he loves shadows, will chase a shadow all over the room and up the wall.  We had some big cardboard boxes out for a while (we always have boxes on the floor now, since having kittens!) and Whiskers turned one into a slide!  Here he is in action.

He is also, when it comes to yogurt or ice cream, VERY persistent. ;)

Is that salted caramel Viking's Feast ice cream you have there?

What do YOU have, Jason?

Jason doesn't want to share.  Poor Whiskers. ;)

He is such a sweet, funny, adorable kitten and we are so lucky to have him!!  And lucky to have his brother, too. :)

  2. Whiskers outgrew all his eye problems months ago, believe it or not! Snowy actually gets more than he does now, but it is easy to get off.
