Whiskers' eyes give him away quickly when he turns around, though! |

Matching cats
Most of the time I don't think the cats look remotely alike. Aside from the obvious eye color difference, they are shaped differently, sized differently, and even their hair is different (Whiskers is whiter and more silky, Snowy is more cream colored and his hair is shorter). But sometimes they look like a matched set and this charms me to no end.

Whiskers wins again
The little bed on my desk is used almost exclusively by Whiskers, but every so often Snowy will lay there. It is only so long before Whiskers can't stand it. He comes along and starts loving (pestering) until Snowy leaves. He knows exactly what he's doing!
Whiskers squeezes his way in |
Then grooms Snowy incessantly, until he's annoyed |

Brotherly Love
Snowy was just trying to relax in a nice paper bag. Whiskers put an end to that nonsense.
Update: Whiskers got what he wanted--the crinkly bag all to himself. :)

Squish
I think this started out as Hayden dragging a toy through the shelf to attract Whiskers. And then Whiskers just decided to stay. Goofy cat.

Then and Now
A year ago, both kittens fit into the little house on the cat tree. Also, they slept. A lot. And they didn't shed. But I digress.
Now, Whiskers can barely stuff himself in!

Breaking and Entering
Snowy figured out how to break into the linen closet. He had been banned from it for going on the shelf with all the clean towels (not his personal sleeping shelf I made for him a couple months ago). He didn't let a little thing like a closed door stop him. He's cute, but I still don't want hairy towels. :)

Before and After

Ways the cats are like toddlers
1. They follow me all over the house, even into the bathroom.
2. They constantly make messes they are incapable of cleaning up.
3. They are rotten as can be, but they are so cute it is hard to stay mad at them.
4. Their behavior makes no sense whatsoever, but they are sure fun to watch.
5. Leave a cabinet or drawer open, they'll get into it, sometimes literally.
6. You buy them a fancy toy, and all they want to do is play with the box.
7. They find even mundane tasks such as mopping to be fascinating.

I was steam mopping the floor the other day and looked up to find the cats looking down at me, befuddled. |

Whiskers the Giant
Still can't believe this is the same, scrawny, 1.5 lb. pipsqueak we brought home 11 months ago. Part of this has to be the camera angle, and part of it is fluff (I swear he has the hair of two cats). But some of it is just that he is BIG! :)

Snowy's latest spot
Don't you love our fluffy, white new towels? Second, *note to self* Don't leave the linen closet open if you don't want to find a cat in there. ;)

Spray bottle face
For as cute and sweet as he is, Whiskers can be a REALLY rotten cat!! He scratches the couch, jumps onto high shelves and cabinets and knocks things off, often very deliberately. Just like a toddler, he feels that negative attention is still attention. Ugh. Good thing he is cute.
His Scottish Fold heritage is evident! |
Working the system
About half hour before each mealtime, Whiskers will flop on the floor and stick his feet in the air. I am convinced he does this on purpose--Look how cute I am! Don't you want to feed me? I call this "working the system." Whiskers is pretty good at it. ;)
If you look at that chubby pink belly under all the fur, it is clear he does not miss many meals. ;) |
Cats in the bath
Since he was a kitten, Snowy has thought water from the bathtub is equivalent to the finest spring water from the Swiss Alps. Recently, Whiskers has discovered this luxury. They are such funny (spoiled!) cats. :)
